The Catalan Federation of Futsal (FCFS-Federació Catalana de Futbol Sala)  is the sports organization that directs the Futsal in Catalonia, which is governed autonomously through the World Futsal Association (AMF) and of the Futsal European Federation (FEF).

The gestation process of the Catalan Federation of Futsal has been long and difficult. In August 1983 the constituent assembly of the FCFS was held. A few months later, it was requested to register at the General Direction of Sports of the Generalitat de Catalunya. In May 1986 he was provisionally enrolled in the registry of Federacions Esportives de Catalunya with the number 4604.

In April 1990  was unsubscribed from the Sports Federation register because he had not fulfilled a series of requirements that had been imposed. This causes a legal process before the High Court of Justice of Catalonia on the occasion of this decision. In June 1991, the TSJC sentenced the FCFS to the Generalitat in order to sign the FCFS definitively without conditions. In July 1992, the Generalitat lodged an appeal before the Supreme Court. In May 1999 the Supreme Court ruled definitively ratifying that of June 1991 of the TSJC.

In December 2003, FCFS was definitively registered in the Register of Sports Entities of the Generalitat de Catalunya


International recognition

The Catalan Federation of Futsal (FCFS) is admitted by the European Union of Futsal (UEFS) now European Federation of Futsal (FEF) to the assembly done in Volgograd (Russia) during the celebration of the women`s European championship, the May 2004.

Where Catalunya debuted as a sports nation and became the runner up of the European championship.
On March 25, 2006, the Catalan Federation of Futsal was recognized by the l World Futsal Association (AMF) as a full member in a meeting held in Mendoza, Argentina.

On the 5th  October 2008, the Catalan women’s team was proclaimed world champion during the World Cup held in the Catalan city of Reus.
