Bittere blessures pour bayer leverkusen : kehrer et wrigge à l'écart

La Canadienne Caroline Kehrer, qui s'était already injured her meniscus once this year in May, has now suffered a second knee injury, this time more seriously, during training in February. She will be sidelined for several weeks.

Worse still, her teammate Amy Wrigge, 17, suffered a cruciate ligament tear in her left knee during a training session on Wednesday, ruling her out for several months.

Wrigge, who debuted in the Bundesliga last season, had yet to score or assist a goal in her young career. Kehrer, meanwhile, was a key player in Leverkusen's attack, having made 16 appearances this season and notching two goals and four assists.

The loss of these two players is a significant blow to Leverkusen's hopes of closing the gap on the top teams in the Frauen-Bundesliga. With a busy schedule ahead, including a home match against bottom-placed Carl Zeiss Jena on Sunday, Leverkusen will need to regroup quickly to avoid falling further behind.
